If you want to pamper your family this season, Dutch Winter Wonderland in Lancaster is a nice go-to. Get some fun holiday treats and take in the Royal Light Show—whether we have snow as a backdrop or not! Don’t forget to take some time to pamper yourself with some foot care, too. After a day of holiday fun, you’ll likely deserve it.
Many people enjoy a nice, relaxing foot soak at the end of a long day. Fill a pan or bucket with warm water and add a half-cup of Epsom salts, letting it dissolve. If you’d like to add some extra luxury, you could also throw in some crushed lavender or a favorite oil (peppermint seems appropriate for this time of year).
Let your feet soak for a good 10-20 minutes, as you feel comfortable. Afterward, if you’re done, it’s a good time to apply some moisturizer to your feet to help counter the lower humidity we tend to experience during winter. Apply and follow with some clean cotton socks.
However, exfoliating can also be pleasant, but please check with us if you have diabetes or poor circulation to first make sure it’s a good idea. A pumice stone is great for exfoliating, but a natural concoction of ¼ cup honey, ¼ cup raw sugar and 2 tablespoons of grapeseed oil can also work. Don’t forget to moisturize after exfoliating!
Once again, please exercise caution if you have diabetes or poor circulation, as any nicks or excessive moisturizer can lead to sores or fungal infections. If you have any questions or concerns about your foot care or skin care, you can always contact us at Martin Foot and Ankle.
