Martin Foot and Ankle has developed a new Fellowship program to provide advanced training to Doctors who have completed a 3-year Podiatric surgical residency. The Fellowship consists of an intensive 12-month surgical and clinical based practice. The Fellow is actively integrated within Martin Foot and Ankle to practice under the guidance of the Fellowship Director, Dr. Michael Younes, and other Physicians of Martin Foot and Ankle. The Fellow will be present in the operating room to learn advanced surgical techniques from the varied perspective of different attending Physicians, maximizing their surgical skills.
The Fellowship program is multifaceted with clinical, didactic, and surgical exposure. From a clinical perspective, the Fellow will be seeing their own patients in the office with the ability to confer with the attending Physician to discuss, review and make recommendations to the patient. Didactics involve monthly journal reviews with the Physicians and lecturing at the local, state and national level. Surgical education will include enhanced exposure to the latest techniques available in the practice of Podiatry.
Under the guidelines of our accrediting board, The American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, Martin Foot and Ankle will start this program by offering one Fellowship. Our volume of surgical cases would allow us to add other Fellowship opportunities in the future.
The recipient of Martin Foot and Ankle’s first Fellowship is Catlea Gorman. Based on existing knowledge, clinical skills, and yearning to develop her expertise, Dr.Gorman came highly recommended by previous attending Physicians. Her composure and maturity stood out in comparison to other candidates.
Dr. Gorman will see patients primarily in the Lancaster and Lititz offices of Martin Foot and Ankle. Her schedule will vary week to week based on surgical volume. Patients she sees will benefit by having more time with her and, with an attending Physician in the room, will receive two opinions in one visit.
Martin Foot and Ankle wants to enhance our profession in the educational realm and is excited to offer this Fellowship to Dr. Gorman. We know that we have the best surgeons in the area and have seen the difference Fellowship trained doctors make when they learn through practicing with us. We will provide Dr. Gorman with a critical learning experience, allowing her to utilize new skills and techniques as she begins her Podiatry career.
